De Veaux Woods State Park
One of the only old growth forests in an urban setting in the United States. Fall is the perfect time to take a step back in time and see what Niagara Falls looked like before settled.
This old-growth forest is home to white, red, and black oak trees.
The oldest tree in De Veaux Woods State Park is around 315 years old.
DeVeaux Woods is located along the Niagara River Corridor
and is recognized by the National Audubon Important Bird Area.
This site was adopted by both the Canadian and the American IBA,
making it the first international IBA site in the world.
History buffs would love to see the stone buildings left behind
from the old DeVeaux College for Orphans and Destitute Children
once located there.
It truly is a gem found only in Niagara Falls, NY. So take in the all the fall colors at De Veaux State Park. And after a perfect day of nature walks and bird watching. Refresh yourself with a delicious meal at the Red Coach Inn. Or warm up by our fireplace with an espresso or cappuccino.
